On January 28, 2010, the Genesee Valley Branch of the American Public Works Association honored the Monroe County Department of Environmental Services and the PAC Center as the 2009 Recipient of the Project of the Year Award for Structural Projects in the greater than $10 Million Dollar category. The Project of the Year Award was established to promote excellence in the management and administration of public works projects by recognizing the alliance between the managing agency, the engineer and a contractor who together have led to the successful completion of a public works project. Valarie Avalone, director of Planning, and Blaine Grindle, director of Facilities Engineering, were on hand to accept the award along with members of the project team.
