Mary Ann M. DeMario Speaks at National Convening about Postsecondary Success
On June 6, Mary Ann DeMario (Institutional Research) spoke at the convening "Investing in Single Mothers' Higher Education: Strategies and Supports to Promote Postsecondary Success" in New York City.
Dr. DeMario spoke about her research on the MCC Child Care Center using data on MCC student-parents from 2006 through 2014. Her analyses show that the student-parents who used the Center had more than triple the on-time graduation rate of the student-parents who didn't use the Center. The findings not only demonstrate the value of the Center but are distinctive in that they are the only research done nationwide that shows the impact of campus-based child care on student-parents.
Dr. DeMario's research findings have been published in two reports from the Institute for Women's Policy Research, available at https://iwpr.org/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/C468.pdf and https://iwpr.org/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/C469_Single-Mothers-Exec-Summary.pdf
