Thursday's power outage

Thursday morning (Feb. 3) at about 6:30 a.m., MCC’s Brighton Campus lost power due to a RG&E transformer malfunction. MCC has two back-up power systems for situations such as these: our co-generation plant and an emergency generator. Unfortunately, both failed. The generator had been tested as recently as last week. The co-gen plant is used daily and inspected regularly.

The multiple power failures impacted our ability to use our communication systems (e-mail, voicemail, web site, etc.). We were able to share information via the news media, our MCC Facebook page and our MCC Twitter feed.

Certainly, it was a challenging morning and everyone’s patience is deeply appreciated. We will be debriefing and looking for opportunities to improve our response in the future.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to send them to <<
mailto:marcom@monroecc.edu>>. We will reply or forward your question to the department best able to respond.

Thank you.
