A Heartfelt Message Regarding the Passing of an MCC Student

Dear MCC Community,

Recently, our Monroe Community College family suffered a terrible loss with the sudden passing of MCC student, Ariana Johnston. With a heavy heart, I regret to inform you that a member of our campus community is experiencing this tragedy. Ariana is the daughter of Angelique Johnston, MCC Professor of English. Words are insufficient to express our sadness for Angelique and her family’s loss.

Losing a member of our community is never easy, and the impact is felt across the entire campus. As we grieve together, it’s important to remember that we are not alone in our sorrow. At MCC, we stand united—"Together as One"—and are committed to supporting each other through this difficult time. The Counseling Center is available to support our students. You can schedule an appointment by calling (585) 292-2140 or emailing Counseling Services (counselingservices@monroecc.edu). We encourage you to reach out for any assistance you may need.

Additionally, resources are available for faculty and staff through our Employee Assistance Program (EAP). If you need guidance or someone to talk to, please contact Human Resources to utilize the EAP or confidential support.

As we face this challenging period, let us support one another with strength, comfort, and compassion. Condolences may be sent to Angelique via inter-office mail. Together, we will honor Ariana’s memory and continue to embody the spirit of unity and care that defines our MCC community.
