MCC Board Passes 2008-09 Budget

Yesterday, the MCC Board of Trustees passed a 2008-09 operating budget of $112,450,000, a 3.9 percent increase from 2007-08. Many costs factor into the increase, most notably projected enrollment growth of 3.2 percent.

The budget also sets forth the schedule of tuition and fees. Tuition is set to rise $100 to $2,900. This is only the fourth tuition increase in 10 years. Fees remain at their 2007-08 levels. In this difficult economy, we are pleased to keep the cost to our students low.

MCC’s tuition remains the lowest among SUNY community colleges. Additionally, our cost per FTE student of $7,594 is 21.5 percent below the SUNY community college average – an indicator of our ability to manage costs effectively.

The Monroe County Legislature will consider our budget in August.
