Monroe Community College Human Resources Onboarding Process and Timeline
In preparation for the upcoming Fall 2024 semester, please remember the College requires 10 to 14 days to process onboarding paperwork for all hires. Due to this timeframe, anyone starting with the College effective August 26, 2024, is required to have HR onboarding initiated on or by August 12, 2024, at the latest, otherwise, they may not be cleared in time to start on August 26th.
To clarify, onboarding paperwork is required for all MCC rehires, including prior employees who have had a break in service with the College for any length of time, as well as MCC new hires, who have never previously worked for the College.
Once onboarding paperwork has been completed and fully processed, an HR representative will email the candidate and will include the department/reporting supervisor on copy confirming the new hire is clear to start with MCC.
Important: An MCC new hire or rehire cannot start employment prior to a clearance from Human Resources.
- As a reminder, no pending rehire or new hire shall begin working for MCC without an all-clear confirmation email from HR.
- This all-clear notification should not be communicated outside of the HR Department as it ensures compliance with SUNY, State and Federal hiring requirements.
- Failure to follow these expectations may result in non-compliance, significant delays in Payroll, as well as a poor first impression with our pending hires.
- Candidates who start working prior to the all-clear confirmation from HR, will be required to leave campus, not continue working until HR confirms they have cleared the pre-employment process.
Additional reminders about the hiring process - including when submitting an HRA or Banner workflow. Start date or appointment date must include 10 to 14 days from the date of the form’s submittal.
Why 10 to 14 days? This time frame allows for:
- Banner workflow or HRA forms includes required approval routing to all necessary departments
- Timeframe provides adequate time for the candidate to complete their electronic onboarding paperwork, including Department of Homeland Security I-9 form completion and sharing required identification with HR.
- Timeframe allows for the completion of onboarding paperwork, including completion of a background check, receipt of official transcript(s), data entry into Banner, etc.
- Any MCC employment offer that is extended to an applicant is subject to the pre-employment background check investigation. Review the Background Check Protocol (PDF).
Please reach out to Human Resources (employeerecruitment@monroecc.edu) if you have any questions regarding onboarding paperwork or the hiring process.
