New Personal Services Contract Process

The Purchasing Department is excited to announce a new process for Personal Services Contracts.

Personal Services Contracts may include, but not be limited to, the following examples: presentations, performances, training, and consulting services.

Our department has the exclusive responsibility for reviewing and executing these contracts and we have created a process to not only make it easier for departments to acquire such services but also help to be able to accurately identify Independent Contractors versus Employees.

To initiate a Personal Services Contract, a department must provide the following documentation to the Purchasing Department:

  1. Personal Services Contract - this includes the scope of work, payment details, start and completion dates, and other terms and conditions.
  2. Independent Contractor Checklist - this helps and College to determine if the contractor is considered an Independent Contractor or should be considered an Employee.
  3. IRS W-9 - this is used to create a Vendor ID in Banner

The Personal Services Contract, the Independent Contractor Checklist, and full instructions on how to complete these forms are now available in your myMCC account under Employee Home\Online Forms\Purchasing.

Requisitions will no longer be required when the Purchasing Department establishes the Personal Services Contract.  We will issue a direct PO to the vendor once the contract is approved.

If you have any questions regarding this process, please reach out to Michael Bates (585-292-2821) or Kristen Reed (585-292-2822).
