Our April 9th Latino Family Day event was a great success! Ninety guests participated in a full day of activities which included an interactive campus tour and scavenger hunt, expo of academic departments, programs and services, and themed break-out sessions.
With a focus on family engagement, attendees represented multiple generations. Students came from the following Rochester City Schools:
· Elementary schools number 8, 22, 28, 33, 41, and 46;
· High schools: Monroe, East, Franklin, and Wilson
Students also attended from the following districts: Brighton, Fairport, Greece, Holley, Irondequoit, Webster and Ontario County.
Feedback received has been all positive. Participants completed a short evaluation where respondents reported increases in familiarity (87%) and knowledge and confidence (55%) with regard to college as a result of attending Latino Family Day programming (see evaluation attachment for details).
Many thanks to the MCC faculty, staff, and students who volunteered to produce a top-notch event. (See volunteer attachment.) Photos can be viewed via M:\Offices\Shared\PhotoTrans\Latino Family Day 2012.
