Marie Fetzner, Assistant to the Vice President, Educational Technology Services (ETS), and ETS liaison to the Damon City Campus, co-facilitated a Sloan Consortium (Sloan-C) online workshop entitled Retention Strategies in Online Education on March 7 - 16, 2012. Professor Ruth Bennett, from the Communication Department at Western Carolina University, was Marie’s co-facilitator. Individuals from across the country participated in discussions on online retention best practices using Sloan-C’s Five Pillars of Quality framework: Access, Scale, Learning Effectiveness, Student Satisfaction, and Faculty Satisfaction. Marie serves on the editorial board of Sloan-C’s Access Pillar for the Journal of Asynchronous Learning Networks (JALN) and is a faculty mentor for Sloan-C’s Online Teaching Certificate program.
