SUNY Board of Trustees' Statement on Governor Hochul's State of the State Address

On Jan. 5, 2022, SUNY distributed the following statement following Gov. Kathy Hochul's State of the State Address.

“Today, Governor Hochul outlined a bold and ambitious plan for the State University of New York and for all who are pursuing a high-quality, affordable, and accessible college education. By investing in and promoting the unique strengths of our campuses and research institutions; expanding tuition assistance programs to students most in need; increasing enrollment by attracting nontraditional students from any adult age group and income while streamlining our application process; diversifying our faculty; and providing childcare support for working students, the Governor is building a national model for how public higher education should meet the needs of our society and today’s learners. We strongly support and applaud the Governor’s visionary agenda to move our higher education system to new heights—to attract the best and the brightest minds to our world-renowned campuses and universities, educate and train our future workers and leaders, and to continue to provide opportunity and access that our university system was built on decades ago.” -- SUNY Board of Trustees
