SUNYCAP New Professionals 2002

The State University of New York College Admissions Professionals (SUNYCAP)
presented New Professionals Orientation (NPO) in Albany, New York on September
8 and 9, 2002. The program was held at SUNY System Administration in Albany,
NY. Barb Asam and Christine Casalinuovo from the Admissions Office, are the
Community College Representatives to SUNYCAP and were the co-coordinators of
the event. It is rare and notable that MCC holds both community college
representative positions as Christine and Barb were elected from among their
SUNY peers.

The mission of NPO is to provide new Admissions Counselors, who have been hired
after September 2001, an opportunity to learn about the SUNY System
Administration, learn the best practices for high school visits and college
fairs, learn many useful travel tips, and also to network with other new
professionals. Over 30 new professionals representing all of the SUNY College
sectors - university centers, colleges of technology, specialized colleges, and
university colleges - participated. Richard Miller, Vice Chancellor and Chief
Operating Officer - SUNY System Administration, Wayne Locust, Associate Vice
Chancellor for Enrollment Management - SUNY System Administration, and Joiel
Ray Alexander, Assistant Vice Chancellor for Enrollment Programs and School
College Relations - SUNY System Administration, also participated in the event.
