Going Green Isn't a Heavy Lift

The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), the leading global authority on the environment, says the world is using the equivalent of 1.6 Earths to maintain the current way of life, and the ecosystem cannot keep up with the demands.  Everyone can make an impact in turning this trend around and making our environment safer and healthier.

Here are some suggestions on what you can do to help:

Electrification:

  • Consider battery-powered or electric lawn care equipment.
  • Consider an all-electric or hybrid vehicle.
  • Tap into solar energy – whether it is solar roof panels or more solar-powered devices and equipment in your home.

Wind Power: If you cannot harness wind power on your own (most can’t due to cost and zoning), support efforts to increase the number of wind turbines in your community.

Pollution Control:

  • Reduce and, whenever possible, eliminate your reliance on single-use plastics.
  • Opt for reusable items whenever possible.
  • Recycle, recycle, recycle.
  • Purchase climate-friendly products.

I call this approach the “power of one.” If you get started, it’s one more person on Earth doing their part to protect the environment for future generations. Set an example for others to follow.
