Undergraduate Research and Celebration of Learning: Faculty Workshop

Please join MCC's URSICA Committee on:

for an informal and informational introduction to MCC’s Celebration of Learning, as well as an exploration into how all of our Best Practices (whether or not our courses are UR-designated) can pull students into this meaningful event. If you come in-person, please feel free to bring your own lunch. Coffee and light refreshments will be served.

URSICA is planning this special Professional Development event for all faculty currently using some method of Undergraduate Research, Scholarly Inquiry, and/or Creative Activity as part of their pedagogy. Our primary goal is to continue developing our professional community as faculty invested in using Undergraduate Research as a method for engaging MCC students more deeply in the language and processes of our respective disciplines.

This is why we want to introduce faculty to MCC’s annual Celebration of Learning, in conjunction with Scholar’s Day. Celebration of Learning, like Scholar’s Day, celebrates the work our students do in our classrooms. Unlike Scholar’s Day, though, Celebration of Learning shines light on All of the research-focused work our students do. It’s crucial that students understand the value not only of their higher-level academic achievements, but also of the various and tentative steps they take to enter the earliest stages of inquiry necessary to their continued growth as thinkers and learners. Join us to learn more about how All of your students in All of your classes can be involved.

Please contact Maria Brandt (mbrandt@monroecc.edu) for more information.
