Introducing MCC's New Liberal Arts Degrees: Professional Studies

Lib Arts & Sci: Professional Studies (formerly Business and Community Engagement) - A.S.  

Pathways LIBE School of Business & Entrepreneurial Studies (BE) and LICD School of Community Engagement & Development (CED) 

Features of Professional Studies:  

  • Math requirement is MTH 160 Statistics, MTH 165 College Algebra, or higher 
  • Contextualized program elective connecting students with their interest area in the first semester 
  • Social Science OR Math course options – CED tends to have several social science requirements in their programs where business requires more math  
  • Course options are recommended for each of the SUNY GEN Ed requirements that best align with CED or BE interests 
  • 6 open electives (18 credit hours) to allow for flexibility and exploration
