Are You Interested in Learning About the Upcoming Civic Discourse Competency or Civic Education in General?
If you are interested in learning more about the upcoming Civic Discourse core competency (Fall 2026) or civic education in general, consider attending SUNY's Civic Education Community of Practice Convening on Friday, May 16th in Albany, New York.
Registration for the Convening is open for the in-person one-day event. SUNY faculty and staff are invited to participate in the Convening to learn from each other and build a community of practice around the topic of civic discourse and education in the SUNY system. A draft schedule of events is availble on the Covening webpage.
There will be opportunities to discuss curricular topics (including preparation for the fall 2026 implementation of the new General Education core competency in Civic Discourse), civic engagement activities, student activities, and more. Space is limited so register as soon as possible.
You can also visit the SUNY Civic Fellows webpage for more information and civic oriented resources.
