The Tutoring and Academic Assistance Center Redesigns its Space for High Impact Services and Student Success!

We are thrilled to announce that the Tutoring and Academic Assistance Center (TAAC) is embarking on a transformative journey to better serve our campus community. The first phase of this enhancement is underway, with the arrival of new furniture and its initial installation scheduled for the week of Spring Recess!

Designed with You in Mind

Each piece of furniture has been thoughtfully selected to meet the diverse needs of tutoring, group study, and various academic support services across disciplines. The strategic layout and design of these new pieces aims to create a space that not only addresses the academic needs of our students but is intentional in fostering a sense of belonging and community.​

Incorporating principles of Universal Design for Instruction (UDI), the TAAC ensures equitable and flexible learning environments that accommodate diverse learning styles and needs. Features such as flexible seating, movable furniture, and integrated technology enhance engagement and collaboration. Additionally, providing diverse activity zones and varied furnishings supports multiple learning modalities and encourages community building. ​

By embracing these design elements, the TAAC not only addresses academic needs but also cultivates a vibrant community where students and faculty can thrive together.

A Resource for All

We envision the TAAC as a central hub for both students and faculty. The updated layout is fully ADA compliant, ensuring accessibility for everyone. Faculty are encouraged to utilize this space for office hours, class visits, and tours, taking advantage of the comfortable and collaborative environment--and please continue to encourage your students to take advantage of the wide range of services here in the TAAC.

These enhancements are part of our ongoing commitment to fostering high-impact learning environments and strengthening support services across disciplines. By investing in spaces that promote connection, inquiry, and persistence, we are not just upgrading furniture—we are enhancing the educational experience for all.​

Looking Ahead

While we await the arrival of furniture for the remaining sections of the Center, including our smaller breakout rooms, we are excited about the progress made and invite you to visit us in the TAAC, in 11-106, to experience the new design firsthand.​
