Voluntary Retirement and Voluntary Separation Incentive Plan Information

On June 10, 2024, the MCC Board of Trustees approved a voluntary incentive program for eligible full-time tenured or tenure-track teaching faculty.  This includes three incentive plans or options:

  • Two different voluntary retirement plans:
    • Voluntary Retirement Incentive Plan (non-phased)
    • Voluntary Retirement Incentive Plan (phased)
  • One voluntary separation incentive plan for those not eligible for retirement
    • Voluntary Separation Incentive Plan (non-phased)

A 2024 Voluntary Incentive Plan tile as well as a Voluntary Retirement / Separation Incentive Plan website has been recently created. For the myMCC tile, go to:  Employee Home -> Human Resources -> 2024 VRIP/VSIP Incentives.

In both resources, you will find:

  • Incentive Plan Details & Rules
  • FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)
  • Comparison Table - comparing all methods under retirement as outlined within the Faculty Association Collective Bargaining Agreement
  • Scheduled Information Sessions
  • Voluntary Incentive Applications
  • Link to the FA Collective Bargaining Agreement

Important Details:

  • The voluntary incentive program is not 1st come 1st served.
  • The deadline to submit an application for consideration is August 16, 2024 (by 5:00 pm EST).
  • All applications will undergo a review and approval process to ensure eligibility and academic program sustainability.
  • These incentives cannot be combined with each other or applied to other incentives that are already outlined within the Faculty Association Collective Bargaining Agreement.
  • Employees who submit an application for consideration will be advised whether or not their application is approved on or before September 20, 2024.

We recognize that the decision to voluntarily retire or separate from your full-time teaching position with the College is as much an emotional one as a financial one.  Therefore, the decision to apply for one of these incentives must be left entirely to you, the employee. MCC can assist with providing eligible employees with information to assist with the decision, but we cannot advise as to what decision to make.

We highly encourage eligible employees to thoroughly review all the materials provided as well as attend one or more of the scheduled informational sessions.

Thank you.
