Encourage Your Students to Attend MCC Libraries' Research Essentials Workshop Series
MCC Libraries is proud to announce our Research Essentials Workshop series. Our workshops are designed to provide practical, hands-on experience in important areas of research and information literacy.
Each workshop can also be delivered directly to your students during class sessions upon request. Simply fill out our Library and Research Instruction Request Form, or email us at libraries@monroecc.edu.
All workshops are offered in a hybrid format, available both in-person and via Zoom.
Fall 2024 Research Essentials Workshops:
1. What's My Research Focus? Choose & Refine Your Topic
Students will discover how to select a research topic that not only ignites their curiosity but also sets them on the path for success in their assignments. They'll practice developing focused and effective research questions.

2. Evaluating Online Sources
Students will learn critical skills for assessing the credibility of information in today's digital age.

3. Finding Sources: How to Search Effectively
Students will explore how to confidently choose and explore essential research tools such as library databases. This workshop focuses on using keywords and filters to pinpoint precisely what they need.

4. Tips & Tricks for Citing Sources
Students will gain practical strategies for using citations in their assignments. This workshop will demystify the process of tracking sources and formatting citations. They will also learn you how to save time by using citation tools in library databases, among others.
