Honoring Black Excellence at MCC: Vol. 1
Black History Month began as Negro History Week in 1926, created by historian Carter G. Woodson to celebrate Black achievements and ensure they were recognized in American history. Today, we continue that tradition by uplifting the voices and contributions of Black faculty and staff at Monroe Community College.
We are excited to kick off our Black History Month spotlights by sharing the journeys, experiences, and wisdom of our colleagues. Our first profiles highlight Dr. Calvin Gantt, Mr. Willis Major, and Dr. Toya Mañón. Join us in celebrating their impact and the many ways Black excellence thrives at MCC! Stay tuned for more features throughout the month.
