AAWCC Women’s Wellness Week Feb 1-8

National Go Red Day, Friday, February 1, kicks off Women’s Wellness Week at MCC. The American Association for Women in Community Colleges (AAWCC) sponsors this annual event which includes a gathering at noon on that day in the Campus Center Atrium. Go Red Day is part the American Heart Association’s national movement designed to help raise women’s awareness of cardiovascular disease and empower women to reduce their risk.  Too few people realize heart disease in the No.1 killer of women (not just men), but the good news is the disease can largely be prevented.

AAWCC’s initiative will continue with a weeklong blitz of health and wellness information, focusing on heart disease prevention, stress management, and overall wellness. The week will also feature healthy meal options at the Brighton and Damon Campuses.  The week concludes with a Stress Releaseand Wellness Fair on Friday, February 8th from 1:30– 3:30 pm on the Brighton Campus.

Mark your calendar now and watch for further event details in the Trib.
