Pre-Collegiate Programs at the Rochester Museum and Science Center

On Monday, December 20th, students of the STEP and Upward Bound programs at DCC visited the Rochester Museum and Science Center. In a scavenger hunt organized by STEP Program Advisor Ashley Simmons, students explored exhibits on anthropology, weather, and other subjects, including Flight to Freedom, an exhibit on the history of slavery.

Students also had the opportunity to attend a special session of CSI: The Experience exhibition currently being featured at the RMSC. The exhibit based on the popular TV show allows participants to unravel the mystery behind three mock crime scenes. The first room of the exhibit contained the scene of the crime, and the second room contained evidence in clear plastic display boxes. Students were asked to examine the evidence and answer questions displayed on nearby computers. Correct answers brought them one step closer to solving the crime, and for the students of STEP and Upward Bound, the experience was the perfect opportunity to further explore the world of forensic science. The RMSC visit was made possible by a grant from the RMSC donors.
