Boost Your Students' Success with MCC Libraries Instructional Support Services
As we start a new academic year, your focus is undoubtedly on setting your students up for success. Developing effective research skills is an important part of the college experience, but it can be challenging. Many students struggle to find credible sources, feel overwhelmed, and may submit work that doesn't reflect their true potential.
But here's the good news: you're not alone! At MCC Libraries, we’re here to support you in teaching these vital research skills, while also saving you time.
Here's how we can assist you and your students:
Tailored Instructional Sessions: Our librarians are experts in teaching students how to find credible sources, evaluate information, and avoid plagiarism. We offer customized classroom sessions..
College Researcher Tutorials: We provide tutorials in Brightspace and on YouTube that cover the basics of academic research, from navigating databases to developing research questions and identifying effective keywords.
Research Essentials Fall 2024 Workshop Series: This workshop series covers key topics, including topic selection, evaluating online sources, search strategies, and citation techniques.
Custom Research Guides: We offer a range of Libguides that are readily available for various subjects and topics. We can also create guides specifically for your course, giving your students quick access to the most relevant resources and research strategies for their assignments.
One-on-One Research Help: Encourage your students to use our personalized support. They can drop by the Brighton Campus Library (Building 2) or the Downtown Campus Learning Commons (Room 440) during open hours, schedule a research help appointment in person or via Zoom, or use our 24/7 chat service. Although the links for these services are available on MCC Libraries' website and the Library tile on myMCC, we recommend including them in your Brightspace course to ensure easy access.
Explore our Library and Instruction Program LibGuide for more details. You can also connect with your department’s liaison librarian or email us directly at libraries@monroecc.edu.
