MCC Partners with Junior Achievement to Launch “World of Work”

This fall, Junior Achievement and Monroe Community College are launching “World of Work,” a new program that guides students as they explore career opportunities. “World of Work” exposes students in grades 6-12 to knowledge related to local workforce needs. As part of a hands-on activity, the students will be guided through a process that: 1) promotes a better understanding of their personal skills, interests and values; 2) uses what they learn about themselves to identify career-clusters that best align with who they are; and 3) take a deep dive into their career choices to learn about required education, job demand, wages and career progression. The entire program is built with a specific focus on the Rochester area economy and job market, and MCC’s Career Coach is a valuable tool in the process. This program represents a valuable opportunity to begin having conversations with young people about the many career opportunities available to them in the Rochester area and the educational programs at MCC that will prepare them for employment.
