MCC Public Safety Lockdown Drill training
Our top priority is the safety of our students, staff, faculty, and visitors. To ensure every member of the MCC community is as safe as possible on campus, the Public Safety Department website (www.monroecc.edu/depts/pstd) offers emergency preparedness resources on its website. Please view the “Lockdown Training” and “Run, Hide, Fight” videos to learn the practical steps to take should one of these unlikely situations occur at MCC.
Specific actions in the event of a Campus Lockdown:
- Leave the threat area. Go to a safe location as far away from the danger as possible.
- Seek shelter in the nearest room where you are out of sight. Encourage others to seek shelter as well.
- If you are in a room, close and lock the door, if possible. Barricade the door. Turn off the room lights, silence your cell phone, and avoid doors and windows.
- Do not leave the room until directed by MCC Public Safety or Law Enforcement unless it is no longer safe to remain there.
- Monitor emergency communications from MCC Public Safety via MCC Alert (text/e-mail), MCC Guardian, campus loudspeakers, and the College’s website for additional information and instructions.
The Public Safety Department also offers “lunch and learn” sessions to provide the campus community with additional information regarding emergency preparedness, public safety training, and a Q&A session for any concerns. Campus Lockdown individual and group training is also available upon request. Training will be available at the Brighton, Downtown, and ATC campuses. Specific times and dates will be publicized at a later date.
