What is Starfish?

Starfish is an early alert student retention system.  Come find out more about MCC’s development and implementation of this system on Wednesday, June 18th at 3:00 p.m. in the Empire Room.

The overall purpose of the Title III project - Building a Culture of Engagement and Success is to improve student achievement through enhanced services, the development of the Student Success Collaborative, and redesigned, innovative developmental curriculum.  Starfish implementation is one component of the enhanced services and supports being developed through Title III.

The MCC Starfish Strategic Planning Committee is working towards a roll out of Starfish Early Alert for a select population in Fall 2015.  An important part of the implementation process is college awareness.  You are invited to participate in a college-wide demonstration of Starfish on Wednesday, June 18 at 3:00 PM. in the Empire Room.

“Student success is a moving target, and different students need different supports at different times. The challenge is knowing which students are facing which obstacles - then getting that information into the hands of the people who can help.  Starfish Early Alert is a retention system developed to assist in this process.”
