Third Renaissance Square Workshop Today

The third public workshop for the Renaissance Square project will be held on today, Wednesday, Sept. 7 from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the Rochester Riverside Convention Center. The project includes a new downtown campus for MCC.

Architect Moshe Safdie will present to the community the design team's preliminary concepts. Following Safdie's formal presentation, the workshop will begin and members of the community will have the opportunity to interact directly with the design team, on a one-on-one basis, to ask questions and share ideas.

The presentation of preliminary concepts is just the beginning of the overall design process. The preliminary concepts will show the configuration and relationships of the three project components -- transit center, MCC campus and performing arts center. They will not contain any architectural detail, but rather will show how the design team will incorporate the three components into one project, essentially what goes where and how they fit together.

The workshop following Safdie's presentation will be set up with several stations at which the public can individually talk with project representatives. These comments and ideas will be recorded on easel pads and posted on the Renaissance Square project web site at https://www.rensquare.org .
