A Simple Letter of Thanks

On behalf of the Faculty Senate Professional Development Committee, I would like to extend “kudos!” to all who participated in the 2nd Annual FS Professional Development Week – presenters and attendees, alike. You all made it a rousing success, and the committee looks forward to next year’s event with enthusiasm . . . and a bit of fear. But mostly enthusiasm!

In the meantime, for any who were interested in materials used by presenters for events you may have missed, please contact those presenters directly. For those who missed the Faculty Senate Orientation, current/future Senator or for those simply curious, I have attached a copy of the materials here (a union is missing from the Big Picture flow chart, but  the correction will be made to future packets).

In addition, as I end my six-year tenure as Chairperson of the FSPD, and as the Faculty Senate transitions to the 2015-2016 leadership, I am compelled to extend my sincere gratitude to my Faculty Senate colleagues as a whole.

In the flurry of what have been incredibly dynamic, challenging, and inspiring years for the college, your collective efforts have been substantial and humbling. Simply touching on highlights drives this point home:

NEG’s meticulous guidance through numerous realignments and dedication to ensure fair representation for all FS constituencies;

SCAA’s impressive endurance through what seems like a record number of hiring committees;

Curriculum’s consistent guidance through all the Seamless Transfer and Academy’s changes;

Academic Policies’ diplomatic negotiation the Fresh Start concerns and the first observance of Veterans’ Day in the Academic Calenda;

Planning Committee’s continued success at advocating for multiple Strategic Planning Grant requests and assistance with the Academy model;

FSPD’s dedication to maintain Carmen Powers’ Legacy and to honor Alberta Lee’s vision for Professional Development Week, in addition to the successful awarding of Leaves and multiple honors for your colleagues;

Executive Committee’s consistent welcoming and professional camaraderie and collegiality;

Executive Committee’s Secretaries’ (Heather Murphy and Teresa Schichler) unwavering support which sustained all FS work as a whole.

To all these Faculty Senate members, past and present, and to all the college-wide partners who helped us bring these collective efforts to fruition, thank you. Thank you for allowing me to learn from your dedicated example, and for motivating me to give and do more.

Best of luck to you all for the 2015-2016 academic year!
