Save the Date for the Mindful Lunch! Friday, October 25
Join the students of FSA 108 Healthy Cooking as they partner with the Wellness Council to bring MCC a flavorful vegetarian lunch so that colleagues can practice mindfully eating together.
What is Mindful Eating? According to the American Diabetes Association, Mindful Eating is “an approach to food that focuses individuals’ sensual awareness of the food and their experience of the food.”. The purpose is “to help individuals savor the moment and the food and encourage their full presence for the eating experience.” It is not meant to focus on weight-loss or making healthier choice, although both might happen as a result of “paying attention to our food, on purpose, moment by moment, without judgment.”*
The lunch is on Friday, October 25 from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the Food For Thought restaurant (Building 3 Room 146). Tickets are $5.00 and go on sale on Monday, September 30 in Food For Thought.
To give you a sense of how our experience will unfold, here is the path we will be taking together:
- 12:00p.m.to 12:05p.m. Arriving and settling in
- 12:05p.m. Meal Gatha and invitation to begin our buffet lunch in silence
- 12:05p.m.to 12:30p.m. Mindful eating in silence
- 12:30p.m.to 12:50p.m. Dessert and discussion of the experience of mindful eating
Seating is limited so get your tickets early. We look forward to seeing you there.
