Message of Gratitude, Reflection, and Optimism

Dear Students, Faculty, & Staff –

“The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched. They must be felt with the heart. Wishing you happiness.” – Helen Keller

The holiday season is a time for gratitude, reflection, and optimism for the future.

I want to express my immense gratitude for the more than 1200 employees at MCC who gift us with their talents and passion to educate, train and support our students. We make a difference each day, with every action we take - for our students and for one another, “Together As One.”

As the semester comes to a close, let us reflect on all that we have accomplished this year. There is much to be proud of, individually and as a campus community. Through our hard work and dedication, we have seen four consecutive years of enrollment growth and achieved our highest graduation rate in 20 years. Together, we are creating a more inclusive and supportive environment for our students to learn, grow, and thrive.

I also want to honor our students for their efforts this semester! While you may have faced challenges, personally or academically, I commend your perseverance. Celebrate and take pride in even the smallest victories because they, too, can be a catalyst for change.

While this time of year is often joyous, we must also be mindful of those who are struggling. Be patient with one another, offer encouragement, and remember that Monroe Community College has resources available to those (students and employees) in need. By working together and supporting each other, we are letting our values of community, inclusiveness, integrity, excellence, empowerment, and stewardship shine bright. Our MCC family is strong, capable, and resilient; we always have been and we always will be.

I hope everyone can create joyful memories over winter break and find time to rest and recharge. I look forward to seeing everyone in January as we continue our effort to build a better, stronger, and more prosperous community for us all.

Once again, thank you for your collective commitment to our mission as we catalyze bright futures for our community and its people. I remain incredibly proud of this College and what it means not only for Monroe County but the state of New York and the nation.

Best of luck during finals week!
