Middle States Accreditation Update: Building Momentum Toward Reaccreditation
Middle States Accreditation Update: Building Momentum Toward Reaccreditation
Where We Are
In July, Monroe Community College received official approval from the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) for our Self-Study Design—a key milestone in our reaccreditation process. Since then, a dedicated team of faculty and staff has been actively advancing MCC’s institutional Self-Study. Throughout the Fall 2024 semester, seven working groups examined hundreds of pieces of evidence to evaluate MCC’s alignment with MSCHE standards, highlight institutional strengths, and identify areas of opportunity.
What’s Happening Now
Each working group developed a draft chapter that will form the foundation of our Self-Study Report, which MCC will submit ahead of its Spring 2026 on-site evaluation. These chapters are currently under review by the Middle States Steering Committee for clarity, completeness, and accuracy. Working groups will have the opportunity to make revisions based on the feedback. After revisions are made, the chapters will be compiled into a cohesive report and shared with the broader campus community—including the Executive Leadership Team, Board of Trustees, faculty, staff, and students—for additional input.
What’s Ahead
To help us prepare, MCC will participate in a SUNY-led mock visit in early Fall 2025. This will offer another valuable opportunity for campus-wide engagement and feedback. Throughout the coming months, members of the Middle States Leadership Team will attend shared governance meetings, host engagement sessions, and provide regular updates to ensure transparency and broad participation. The fully revised Self-Study Report will be made available to the MCC community during Fall 2025 for final review and feedback.
