Tech tip: Windows Updates

Keeping current with all Windows updates can help prevent issues like Outlook crashing to audio/video issues when using Zoom. To see the version of Windows your desktop or laptop is on, go to Settings > System > About.  MCC computers should be on Windows 10 – Version 22H2 or Windows 11 - Version 23H2 if capable.

To check that your device is up to date, open Start Settings Update & Security Windows Update and see your update status and available updates. The display will show “You’re up to date.”

  • You must click on the Check for Updates button and also click on the link in blue “Check online for updates from Microsoft Update” to get all updates (or select it from the drop-down box)!

Updates can take some time, so we recommend starting updates at the end of your workday (just lock your desktop when you leave--press Windows key plus L) and check to see if there are additional updates (they load sequentially) to install on the next day.

This is day ten of our Twelve days of Holiday Season in the Tech World! Look for another tip tomorrow!
