Tech Hub Receives $40 Million in Funding; MCC to Lead Workforce Training Program

United States Senator Charles Schumer and United States Congressman Joseph Morelle (NY-25) visited Monroe Community College’s Downtown Campus Tuesday, July 2, 2024, to announce $40 million in funding for the NY SMART I-Corridor Tech Hub. The Tech Hub was one of only 12 nationwide award winners to receive the funding.

What does this mean for MCC? MCC will lead the workforce training program, which will create several initiatives. The initiatives include expanding internship and apprenticeship opportunities, establishing a program to pair industry partners with semiconductor supply chain firms to develop training and job placement efforts, and creating employer-led training initiatives at regional training and education institutions to expand the workforce.
