Expanding Opportunity, Elevating Technology

Advanced Technology Center (ATC)

Monroe Community College (MCC) has begun construction on its new, state-of-the-art Advanced Technology Center (ATC) on the Brighton Campus. A groundbreaking ceremony for the nearly $70M project was held on April 22, 2025. MCC President Dr. DeAnna R. Burt-Nanna was joined by County Executive Adam Bello, Congressman Joe Morelle, and members of the county legislature to celebrate the largest investment in MCC in decades.

The project is a collaborative effort between MCC, Monroe County, New York State, and State University of New York (SUNY). The county and state (SUNY) are each providing $34.817M for the project. The county contribution also includes a $3.5M federal grant.

The new building, which will replace the existing facility on West Henrietta Road, will be more than double its size. It will enhance our curriculum with state-of-the-art resources and innovative learning opportunities, preparing our graduates to excel in a competitive job market and meet the demands of future industries. Students will learn in simulated, real-world workplace environments while earning industry-recognized credentials in advanced manufacturing, automotive technology, heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and more. The ATC will also serve as the new home for MCC’s highly regarded optics program. The two-year program, the first-of-its-kind in the nation, trains technicians in optics and photonics, providing a direct path to employment for hundreds of students. Since 2015, the program has grown by more than 2400%.

We are tentatively scheduled to move into the new facility in summer 2026, with an official opening scheduled for fall 2026.

Additional updates will be provided throughout the project. Continue checking back!
