Passing of Dr. Edward (Ed) Lennert, Professor & Former Assistant Vice President of Academic Affairs
I regretfully inform the college community that Dr. Edward Lennert passed away peacefully on September 2, 2025, at the age of 84.
Ed began his career at Monroe Community College in 1976 as the Director of Instructional Media Services. Over the years, he served in a variety of roles, including Chair of the Audiovisual Technology Department, Director of Instructional Services, track coach, and Assistant Vice President of Academic Affairs. In 1992, he returned to the classroom, driven by his passion for developing course materials and engaging directly with students. He also frequently served on review boards for the Middle States Association and the National Science Foundation’s grant programs.
Ed is survived by his wife, Joan Lennert; children, Bill Lennert, Sharon (Brian) Lennert-Touranjoe; grandchildren, Chelsea (James) Ciardullo, Sean (Amanda) Lennert, Christine Touranjoe; great- grandchildren, Aiden, Lennon, Myers, McCoy; brother, James (Connie) Lennert; nieces, Julie (Matt) Burlingame and Jen (Tam) Nguyen and family; cousins, Doug and Greg Longhini and their families. Ed was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Florence Lennert.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Louis Church (64 S. Main St., Pittsford) on Saturday, September 13th at 9am. Interment to follow at Ascension Gardens Cemetery.
