TCC Reading Group: Trans figured

The TCC will sponsor a reading group on Sophie Grace Chappel's Trans Figured: on being a transgender person in a cisgender world

Sophie Grace Chappell is the first openly trans philosophy professor in England. She describes Trans Figured as “part childhood memoir, part philosophical argument, part real-time public engagement, part sci-fi fantasy tale.” An engaging personal account of self-knowledge, Chappell engages with the arguments about sex and gender and the fantastical fears that motivate book bans, demonization, and prejudice. But most of all she insists on grounding her claims to identity in experience, with no theory of gender needed.
