TEK-145: Career Communications

Course Description

This course teaches the communication skills needed to succeed in a professional setting. Organizational communication, cultural competence, and management structure will be examined. Students will research areas of ethics, values, and leadership theories within organizational structures and will create their own philosophy statement and portfolio. Students will collaborate with group members to identify mission, vision, and cultural statements, as well as organizational hierarchy, within companies. Students will also identify leadership styles, management structures, and communication strengths and weaknesses through examining select organizations. Students will be exposed to a variety of organizational experts and professionals while enrolled in the course.
