CLT-210

Clinical Chemistry

Clinical chemistry practitioners perform biochemical analysis of serum or plasma and other body fluids, and the results of these analyses provide a snapshot of patient health and support the diagnosis and treatment of disease. Students will apply their prior knowledge of analytical chemistry, cellular biology, and physiology to the topics in this course. The laboratory's role in healthcare equity, common clinical chemistry analytes, and correlation of results to human health and disease will be discussed. Students will become proficient with laboratory techniques, quality practices, and equipment that are the basis for most clinical chemistry instrumentation in the field.
