ENG-131: Composition in the Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences

Course Description

In this composition course, students will continue to strengthen their writing, information literacy, and critical thinking skills. Engaging in research, inquiry, and analysis, students will explore issues and ideas related to the Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences through a variety of perspectives. They will gain familiarity with some of the different kinds of writing, reading, research, and deliberation done in these fields (whether print or multimodal) and complete reading, writing and research projects designed to continue to develop their understanding of and interest in specific academic and professional disciplines. This course may be organized around a broad topic or overarching theme, such as culture, community, or identity. Additionally, an exploration of the disciplines themselves, how they shape and are shaped by cultural priorities and norms, will provide a focus for the course.
