LAS-220: Liberal Arts Capstone

Course Description

This course provides students the opportunity to engage in critical, interdisciplinary inquiry while building on the knowledge, intellectual skills, and habits of mind central to liberal arts education. Students will explore foundational liberal arts concepts, particularly ethical reasoning and behavior in natural and social environments, within the context of the academic discipline(s) represented in their degree program. Students will make connections among courses previously completed, apply existing knowledge, and integrate new knowledge as they confront the complexities of our interconnected world. At the end of the course, students will complete an eportfolio that showcases their intellectual growth and understanding of the liberal arts disciplines. This course should be taken as one of the final courses of the three Liberal Arts and Sciences degree programs. The theme of the course will change each academic year as determined by the College’s Liberal Arts Council.

Prerequisites

Completion of ENG 130 or ENG 131 or ENG 132 or ENG 200 or ENG 250 or ENG 251 and Completion of 30 credits Note: enrollment in course will be limited to students in; Liberal Arts STEM, Applied Science, & Health - A.S. Liberal Arts & Sciences: Arts, Humanities, & Social Sciences - A.S. Liberal Arts: Business & Community Engagement - A.S.
