Spring and Intersession Brightspace Course Shells Now Available - Start Prepping Early for Accessibility!

Course shells for the upcoming Intersession and Spring are now available in Brightspace. We know it may feel early, but starting now helps ensure your content is accessible and ready for students.

Where to Find Your Shells:

  • Course shells are created based on Banner data.
  • If you don’t see a course shell in My Courses within the term tabs, check your Banner schedule to confirm your assignment.
  • If Banner looks correct but your shell is missing, contact Virtual Campus (virtualcampus@monroecc.edu).

Course Preview Dates: Students can access course shells 7 days before the course start date:

  • Intersession: December 26 (during Winter Break)
  • Spring Regular Start: January 13
  • Late-Start Courses: 7 days before your course begins

New! Course Accessibility Widget: To help you meet the Title II accessibility deadline, we’ve added a new widget to your Spring shells:

  • Only instructors can see it.
  • It displays your course’s accessibility score (which starts at 0% until content is added).
  • Click the links below the score image for helpful resources and your full accessibility report.

Getting Started:

Merge Courses:

  • Cross-listed courses were auto-merged if listed in Banner by the morning of November 5.
  • If you need to merge additional courses (or update a merge), use the Merge Request Form.
  • Deadline for Intersession: Tuesday, December 23 by noon
  • Deadline for Spring: Friday, January 9 by noon
