TCC: Day 1 of TCC Gratitude Series: Kudos to You, MCC Student Success Coaches!

Please share with students:

The Teaching and Creativity Center is excited to present our semi-annual Kudos to recognize and celebrate the success of the MCC community!

This year, we received an incredible 190 kudos from students to MCC faculty and staff, along with over 100 kudos from colleagues to colleagues. I always enjoy reading and sharing these messages across the college. Over the next two weeks, I’m thrilled to share all of these kudos with you. Thank you all for your continued participation in our semi-annual Kudos Recognition!

Today, I would like to dedicate our kudos to our amazing Student Success Coaches. Your ongoing support and engagement in TCC programs—from book groups to workshops to community-building events are truly appreciated. You are always present, always contributing, and always making a difference. I truly appreciate each and every one of you.

MCC: Colleagues to Colleagues:

Shannan Foos (Academic Foundations)

Shannan has been a shining light here at MCC since she started last summer. She is dedicated to bringing a sense of community and care to her colleagues and all students. I have been so lucky to work with her over the last year in Academic Foundations and I am so thankful that she is continuing here at MCC as a success coach. If you ever need a kind word or a solid hug, Shannan is your person.

Sarah Pantaleo (Student Success and Advising Services), Receiving two nominations

  • From my very first day as a success coach, Sarah has been extremely supportive.  On my first day, I did not have an office and Sarah let me use her office for the entire day to begin my training.  She had left a welcome bag with goodies and swag for me on the desk.  Since then, Sarah has been an amazing support for all of us in the Business School.  She is caring, supportive and encouraging.   I really appreciate that we always have her support for participating in MCC projects or additional trainings.  I especially appreciate that Sarah makes time for all of us and our many questions.  She's amazing and I am very fortunate to have her support and guidance.
  • Thank you, Sarah, for your trust, guidance, and consistent support. I’m grateful to have you as a supervisor.

Holly Wynn-Preische (Student Success and Advising Services)

Whenever I have a question no matter how absurd, Holly takes the care to provide the answer going as far as walking me all the way to the loading docks when I couldn't find it! Holly is an MCC treasure!!!

Lisa Ekiert (Student Success and Advising Services)

I’m not sure words can truly capture how incredible Lisa has been. Despite the overwhelming workload she manages, Lisa consistently shows up with patience, generosity, and a genuine willingness to help me sort through all the new info I've received in a short amount of time. She always makes time for our questions no matter how busy she is—and that kind of support does not go unnoticed. We’re lucky to have her.

Steven Schutt (Student Success and Advising Services)

Steven, you bring a sense of levity to this role that’s so often needed and always appreciated. Thank you for being such a thoughtful and dependable teammate!

Ahchaka Stanley (Student Success and Advising Services)

Ahchaka, I survived my very first solo advising session because of you! Thank you for always having an open door, a stash of candy, and a dose of laughter when it's most needed. I'm so grateful for your support and good vibes.

Jess Maxfield (Student Success and Advising Services)

Jess is amazing with her passion for students and their success. She deeply understands the most recent additional challenges that our students are facing in today's world. She is a great communicator and very responsive and collaborative. Thank you, Jess!

LaToya Collins (Academic Foundations)

It was truly a pleasure co-facilitating the Equity in Higher Education series with you. You are joyful to work with, and I felt a genuine connection throughout our collaboration. Your passion for education shines through in everything you do. I especially cherish our deep, reflective conversations about equity and education, but also about life. Your insights continue to inspire me.

Amber Humphreys, Alyce Lew, LaToya Collins, Shannon Foos, Ellen Miller

The Teaching and Creativity Center deeply appreciates the positive energy, enthusiasm, wisdom, and passion each of you brings to our work. No matter how busy or tired you may be, you always show up—present, engaged, and eager to share your knowledge. Your commitment to supporting professional development is truly appreciated! I especially value our conversations around equity and social justice. You challenge me to grow, and for that, I am sincerely grateful.

From Students to Students Success and Advising Services:

Cayla Facey (Student Success and Advising Services)

Throughout my time of school this semester has been way more productive, successful, and enjoyable with Cayla as my admission advisor. She’s helped me within so many things pertaining to school and my course, without her knowledge and her support i would’ve been lost.

Julie Mills (Student Success and Advising Services)

Julie is amazing. She has helped me navigate through course selections and feeling confident in myself as the semester progresses. She provides connections to help me succeed in my classes as well. Always helps me feel like I’m supported and will be able to accomplish anything.

Jordan Rapp (Student Success and Advising Services)

Jordan Rapp has helped me tremendously throughout my first year of college so far. He has been such a huge help guiding me through various aspects of my college journey. Ever since the beginning with picking out classes, navigating classes and my next steps, helping me navigate different careers, jobs, and goals. His support has made me learn so many helpful tools and resources and he has helped me understand a lot about college. His guidance has made my transition into college easier and much more smoother.
