AC Katie Ferguson receives Distinguished CALEA Recognition

The Public Safety Department is proud to announce that Assistant Chief Katie Ferguson has successfully completed all requirements for the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) Accreditation Manager Certification Program, a distinguished recognition awarded to accreditation managers who excel in supporting their agency and the accreditation process.

Ferguson will officially receive her certification during the CALEA Spring Conference in March 2026. The event will take place in Tucson, Arizona,

Maya Mitchell, Communications and Organizational Development Manager for the Accreditation Manager Certification Committee, extended her congratulations to Ferguson, stating, “This recognition is given to managers who are an asset to their agency and the accreditation process.”

Chief Steve Wise stated, “I echo CALEAS recognition for AC Ferguson.  The Accreditation process is lengthy and involved.  Fergusons keen attention to detail help us shape our policies and procedures to reflect the best practices in law enforcement, as supported by CALEA.  I am proud to lead the only SUNY Community College that is accredited by CALEA.  The MCC Community should be proud that their Public Safety Department has achieved this lofty status and can thank Ferguson for her guidance in this area.”

Ferguson’s accomplishment highlights her dedication to excellence in public safety and her commitment to upholding the “Gold Standard in Public Safety” set by CALEA.
