Celebrating Faculty Contributions to STEP Up Saturdays

On behalf of the STEP program, I would like to extend our sincere appreciation to four outstanding faculty members who volunteered their time and expertise to support our STEP Up Saturdays initiative: Rachael Baldwin from Nursing, Benjamin Schermerhorn, Todd Enright, and Pasquale Dilucia from Engineering Technologies.

Their commitment to student engagement and experiential learning was evident through the thoughtful, hands-on workshops they designed and facilitated for our students. These sessions not only introduced participants to real-world applications of STEM fields, but also sparked curiosity, confidence, and excitement about future academic and career pathways. The impact of faculty involvement in programs like STEP cannot be overstated—our students benefit tremendously from direct interaction with passionate educators who bring their disciplines to life.

Initiatives like STEP Up Saturdays reflect the broader mission of the college: to create inclusive, supportive, and inspiring educational environments that empower all students to succeed. The willingness of faculty to go beyond the classroom and invest in pre-college enrichment speaks volumes about the strength and dedication of our academic community.

As we look ahead, STEP is excited to offer additional opportunities for faculty and departments to get involved. Our upcoming Summer Bridge Program will provide another valuable platform to engage with students through interactive workshops, mentorship, and academic enrichment activities. We warmly invite departments and faculty members across the college to participate. If your department is interested in contributing to this impactful program, please reach out to Amy Takdharie (atakdharie@monroecc.edu). Your involvement can make a lasting difference in shaping students’ educational journeys.

Thank you again to Rachael Baldwin, Benjamin Schermerhorn, Todd Enright, and Pasquale Dilucia for their exceptional contributions. We look forward to building on this momentum and continuing to strengthen partnerships across the college in support of student success.
