Celebrating Our 2026 SUNY Online Teaching Ambassador, Dr. Amy Burtner
SUNY Online Teaching provides an opportunity for campus instructional designers to nominate two online faculty as SUNY Online Ambassadors each year. The Virtual Campus team is proud to announce that Dr. Amy L. Burtner has been selected as one of MCC’s 2026 SUNY Online Teaching Ambassadors!
Amy, a Professor in the English & Philosophy Department, has been a dedicated online educator whose courses consistently stand out for their exceptional design, clarity, and deep attention to student experience. Students frequently praise her online courses as well‑organized, accessible, and thoughtfully crafted, and our team has long admired the care she puts into creating meaningful, engaging learning environments.
This year, Amy’s leadership in digital accessibility has also made a measurable impact. As her department’s Title II Accessibility Liaison, she continues to advocate for inclusive course design and has helped improve departmental file accessibility scores, a significant step forward for student access and equity.
As a 2026 Ambassador, Amy was recognized during the SUNY Online Summit and featured on the SUNY Online Teaching website. Please join us in congratulating Dr. Burtner on this well‑deserved recognition and thanking her for everything she does to support our online learners and advance high‑quality online teaching at MCC!
