TCC: Fall Conversation #2 (The Power of Belonging: Research and Practices for Inclusive Classrooms)

The TCC's Conversations series continues on Tuesday, Oct. 21 with The Power of Belonging: Research and Practices for Inclusive Classrooms.

In this conversation, facilitated by education professors Toya Mañón and Rick Costanza, we will explore teaching practices that foster a sense of belonging and strengthen community in our classrooms. Together, we will highlight research on belonging in higher education and consider how it applies across disciplines. Faculty participants will share the strategies they use, both in physical and virtual learning spaces, to create inclusive environments where students feel connected, valued, and engaged.

All faculty and staff are welcome!

The event is designed to meet the following goal of the Teaching and Creativity Center's programming:

  • Goal 1: Create a culture of critical reflection, continual growth, and collaboration for faculty at all stages of professional growth
  • Goal 2: Promote evidence-based, high-impact, innovative course design and teaching strategies that improve student outcomes
  • Goal 3: Facilitate faculty inquiry into the study of teaching & learning with an equity lens
