Michelle Beechey Presents at SUNYLA Conference and Elected to Executive Board

Michelle Beechey, Access Services and OER Librarian, recently presented at the SUNY Librarians Association (SUNYLA) Annual Conference, held June 18 - 20, 2025, at SUNY Delhi. She co-presented a session titled “Creating Inclusive Spaces: Addressing Student Mental Health and Wellness Needs” alongside librarian colleagues from SUNY Brockport, the University at Albany, and Mohawk Valley Community College. Each presenter shared how their respective libraries are developing spaces and programs to support students' diverse study and learning needs.

At MCC, the LeRoy V. Good Library partnered with the Counseling & Disability Services Office this spring to enhance study areas with sensory-friendly features. These include massage chairs, comfortable seating, soft lighting, and other calming elements. These spaces are scheduled to officially open to the campus community in Fall 2025.

In addition to her presentation, Michelle Beechey was elected to the SUNYLA Executive Board as First Vice-President. This three-year leadership role includes serving as First Vice-President in the first year, President in the second, and Past President in the third.

Congratulations, Michelle!
