Healthy Hint: Rebound your way to Fitness
Finding it hard to fit in time to exercise? Running just not your thing? In 1980, NASA completed a study that found that 10 minutes of rebounding was up to 68% more effective than 30 minutes of jogging. What is rebounding? Essentially using a mini trampoline or rebounder with elastic cords to jump. The trampoline/mat absorb a large portion of your weight on landing, reducing the impact on your joints while still building your stamina and endurance for a low-impact workout.
As a starter, you can do this exercise without any special equipment. Stand in a doorway or hold onto the back of a chair, feet hip-width apart and knees slightly bent, and lift up and down on your toes in a bounce-like movement. You can also alternate lifting one heel and then the other if that is more comfortable for you.
Start with 1-2 minutes twice a day and gradually increase to 10 minutes, three to five times a week.
