The Week Ahead

The office of Student Life & Leadership Development presents the following events for next week (please share with students):

Surgical Technology Club Food Drive:

  • Monday, April 29th, 2024, and Tuesday, April 30th, 2024, 12:00 to 1:00 pm, Building 9-127
    The Surgical Technology Club is collecting Sliced Bread, Fruit Snacks, and Granola Bars for the Open Door Mission.  Donations can be dropped off in Building 9-127.

Electronics Clinic with IT Club:

  • Monday, April 29th, 2024, 12:00 to 1:00 pm, Building 9-263
    The IT Club is giving a hands-on workshop focused on repairing, refurbishing, and recycling old electronics.  They are giving away the repaired Game Boy. 

Scholars’ Day:

  • Tuesday, April 30th, 2024, 9:00 am to 3:00 pm, Building 12 and Market Place
    The 16th Annual Scholars’ Day showcases the hard work of students and faculty academic excellence in a conference-style program. There are over 87 students presenting classroom and poster presentations.

WMCC Speaker Series:

  • Wednesday, May 1st, 2024, 12:00 to 1:00 pm, Brighton PRISM Multicultural Center (1-108)
    To celebrate Asian-American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, WMCC invites three esteemed journalists of APPI descent, Debadrita Sur, Adriana Loh, and Mikhaela Singleton, to address the MCC community. This event is free and open to the MCC community. Light refreshments will be provided, while supplies last.

 Celebration of Learning:

  • Wednesday, May 1st, 2024, 3:00 to 4:30 pm, Library 2nd floor
    The Celebration of Learning extends the excitement and passion for learning from Scholars’ Day to every MCC student. Modeled after a traditional science fair, this event offers a platform for each student to share their work with a supportive and encouraging audience.

Yom HaShoah:

  • Thursday, May 2nd, 2024, 9:30 am to 2:00 pm, Brighton Campus Atrium
    Please join us for the HGHRP's 34th Annual Yom HaShoah commemoration events. This year we are holding on to hope and focusing on resistance in the face of hate. In the morning, there will be an opening ceremony in the Atrium at 9:30 am, followed by the Calling of the Names and Candle Lighting from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. Throughout the day, come watch and listen as local Holocaust survivors tell their stories. The opportunity to do so becomes ever rarer with the passing of time.

Society of Women Engineers Club:

  • Friday, May 3rd, 2024, 12:00 to 1:00 pm, Building 7-107
    Join the SWE as they welcome MCC alumni Emile Thomas. She will discuss her role as a process engineer at Utilities Generation Company.  Light refreshments will be provided.

Other News:

  • Angelo Romero has been elected SUNY Student Assembly Community College Representative for the 2024 – 2025 academic year. Let’s send him our congratulations!
