Board of Trustees to Welcome New Member

At the October 6, 2025, meeting, the Monroe Community College Board of Trustees will welcome MCC alumna Tashanda Thomas '06 as its newest member.

Trustee Thomas is the Senior Vice President and Chief People and Culture Officer at Foodlink. With a career spanning several years in Human Resources, Trustee Thomas has made a lasting impact in both the non-profit and for-profit sectors through her unwavering commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion—a professional stance and personal mission that continues to inspire those around her.

A deep desire to impact the lives of Rochester's citizens is evident in Trustee Thomas’s volunteer work and community service. She has dedicated her time and talent to Willow Domestic Violence Center, The Urban League of Rochester, St. John Fisher University, and the YMCA. Trustee Thomas is a Commissioner for the City of Rochester's Civil Service Commission and an Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated member.

Trustee Thomas has received numerous accolades for her professional achievements and community outreach efforts. In May 2025, she was honored with the Rochester Business Journal’s Circle of Excellence award. In 2024, she was inducted into the Monroe Community College Alumni Hall of Fame. Her other awards include being named a 2023 National Human Resources Association (NHRA) HR Executive of the Year Finalist, a 2022 Rochester Business Journal Women of Excellence Honoree, a 2022 ATHENA Young Professional Award Finalist, the 2021 Making an Impact Award winner from the Rochester Chapter of the NHRA, the 2020 St. John Fisher University "Ten Under 10" Honoree, a 2019 Greater Rochester Chamber of Commerce IGNITE Future Leaders Award Finalist, and a 2018 Rochester Business Journal "Forty Under 40" Honoree.

Holding an associate's degree from Monroe Community College and a bachelor's degree from St. John Fisher University, Trustee Thomas brings a strong educational background to her work.
