Call for Nominations: Outstanding WAC Faculty Award

The Writing Across the Curriculum (WAC) Steering Committee is now accepting nominations for the 2025-26 Outstanding WAC Faculty Award. The deadline for submissions is Friday, April 30, 2026. Please consider nominating a colleague who you feel deserves such recognition for their approach to teaching writing intensive courses. All teaching faculty are eligible.

The awardee is chosen on the basis of documented outstanding WR instruction, including but not limited to:

  1. The use of innovative writing assignments that accomplish the Writing Across the Curriculum Program objectives, which state that through writing students will:
    • increase understanding of course content

    • gain the ability to express themselves confidently

    • enhance their critical thinking/problem solving skills

    • increase participation in their learning process

  2. Advocacy of WR as a high impact practice to other faculty and students

The nomination packet should include the following materials:

  1. A letter of recommendation justifying the nominee's suitability for the award. (One may nominate oneself for the award but must still produce a letter of recommendation.)

  2. A copy of the nominee's writing assignment(s) and CIS showing the WR emphasis

  3. A brief statement from the nominee explaining why and how student writing is important to his or her teaching.

Please email materials to Amy Burtner (aburtner@monroecc.edu).

The winner will be formally recognized at the Employee Recognition Ceremony in May.
